Karrington Knight

Karrington Knight was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana.  Leaving the comfort of her tight knit community, she attended Rhodes College and was selected as a 2022 Hall of Fame Inductee and fostered her interest for foreign service with a major in International Studies and minors in Spanish and Film/Media Studies.  Coupled with her academics, Karrington interned at the Juvenile Court of Memphis and Shelby County, where she worked within the Foster Care Department, keeping minutes for Care Review hearings and managing case files for several children.  Karrington used her excellent writing and social media skills, serving as a communications intern for the Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.  She also served as a congressional intern on Capitol Hill, working for U. S. Congressman Troy Carter, researching topics for official statements, directly interacting with constituents in her district, and networking with other interns and Congressional officials on both sides of the aisle.  This past summer, Karrington was selected as a TFAS participant and had the opportunity to work for Transparency International, U.S. Chapter, a global coalition against corruption, where she cataloged cases of corruption within the nation, named a piece of legislation and created an itinerary for the organization’s International Anti-Corruption Conference.  From her professional and classroom experiences, Karrington has focused on human interactions and hopes to continue working in this area within USAID’s human rights and anti-corruption backdrops through the knowledge and skills she has gained and learned and looks forward to her international experiences through this process.  She is honored to be selected as a 2023 Donald M. Payne Fellow.  Karrington is an avid golfer, having played on the collegiate level, loves Mardi Gras, is a fan of films, and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
